Kazora Joyce

Kazoora Joyce is 9 years old. She lives in a village on Ekitangaala Ranch, Nakasongola District, Uganda, East Africa. Kazoora’s father died from a heart attack in 2007.  Her mother remarried and moved to Kamuli. Kazoora lives with her uncle, aunt, cousin, brother and sister. Their home is a small house of handmade mud bricks and a tin roof. The children sleep on the floor on bedding of old rags and grass mats. Kazoora suffers from health problems such as stomach worms and chronic cough. The family has no land for growing food and the uncle’s source of income is inadequate to meet the basic needs of their family. Their diet consists of corn meal mush. They cook outside over an open fire. Their toilet is an outdoor pit latrine. Kazoora is in grade 1 at Ekitangaala Primary School. She eats a hot nutritious lunch each school day through the ACM feeding ministry. Sponsorship makes it possible for Kazoora to continue her education and provides funds for food, clothing, and medical care.
