Maridadi Keren

Maridadi Keren is 12 years old. Her first name means. She lives in the village of Butenga, Nakasongola District, Uganda, East Africa. Keren’s father died in 2000. Her mother is unemployed. Keren lives with her mother and grandparents. Their home is a small grass thatched mud hut. She sleeps on the dirt floor on bedding made of old rags and a grass mat. Keren suffers from health problems such as frequent headaches and deadly malaria. The family’s diet consists of potatoes and cassava, a root plant. They cook outside over an open fire. Their toilet is an outdoor pit latrine. Keren is in grade 5 at Ekitangaala Primary School. She eats a hot nutritious lunch each school day through the ACM feeding ministry. Sponsorship makes it possible for Keren to continue her education and provides funds for food, clothing, and medical care.
