The children sleep on bed with a thin foam mattress. Stella suffers from health problems such as frequent headaches, chronic cough, and deadly malaria. The family’s diet consists of potatoes, corn meal mush, beans, and cassava, a root plant. They cook outside over an open fire. Their toilet is an outdoor pit latrine.
