Community Development

The development of a community can be more than clearing and tilling land, paving roads, constructing buildings, putting in gardens, digging wells and erecting water towers. We see it as encouraging people to become partners in the development of their community. This old adage is very true: “If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime.” Rather than temporary relief or counterproductive handouts, we provide opportunities in every project for our community members to become partners in the work. We involve those who will be helped by each program to help in its implementation.

ACM is a multi-faceted ministry and has done all those things listed above—well, all except for paving roads—however, we didn’t do any of them alone. We partnered with the community, which has developed by leaps and bounds. The community has grown, and the ministry has also grown and developed. Relationships between the ministries on the ranch and our neighbors make fertile soil for continued growth and development in the areas of Community Health, Construction, Water Ministry, Women’s Ministry and more. We are eager to see what the future holds for Nakasongola District in Uganda!
